Home automation

  • Definition:thehas home automation is a set of techniques for the electronics, automation, it and telecommunications used in buildings. The home automation aims to provide comfort functions (power management, optimization of lighting and heating), security (alarm) and communication (remote controls, visual or audible signals, etc) that can be found in homes, hotels, public places, etc
  • It is to be put in place networks linking different type of equipment (appliances, hifi, equipment, automation, etc) in the house. Thus, it brings an entire set of services that enable the integration of modern technologies in the house.

The main areas in which to apply the techniques of automation are :

  • the programming of domestic appliances, home appliances. A micro synchronous motor drives, by means of reducers appropriate, of the cams that open and close the contacts.
  • energy management, heating (for example, it is possible to manage the natural flows according to the thermal envelope of the building), air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, the opening and closing of the shutters (depending on the amount of sunlight or time of the day, for example), the water (the filling of the tub may stop automatically thanks to a sensor, the lavatory faucets can turn on the water at the approach of the hands, etc). It is also possible to recharge certain electrical appliances (computers, electric vehicles, etc) depending on the hourly rate (see Smart grid) .
  • the safety of people and property (alarms, motion detector, intercom, digicode) .
  • the communication between device and user by means of sonification (emission of signals in the form of sound) .
  • the " acoustic comfort ". It may be the installation of a set of speakers to spread the sound and to regulate the sound intensity .
  • the clearing of situations of disability and dependency.

This notion of automation on which is based the home automation is not only applied to the house. In fact, the bas is its equivalent but on a larger scale, since it is geared to the buildings, to buildings and industrial sites.
